Amazing Growth! Jehovah Is Blessing The Preaching Work!
by Divergent intoday's text:.
saturday, april 2. the little one will become a thousand.—isa.
60:22.. perhaps we live in an area where there are few witnesses or where we do not see a lot of immediate results in our preaching work.

Do we know if the "growth" has occurred among actual East Indians or is it among westerners who for one reason or another are living in India? -

Would we exist if Adam and Eve didn't sin?
by truth doubter inmy son asked me 40 years ago.
should we be glad adam sinned?
because if he hadn't, we would not be the person we are.. any opinions?

Your son is talking about the Butterfly Effect and Chaos Theory where even the smallest of changes in the way things occur, can have far reaching effects in the universe and the flow of History.
All of us are here mostly by random chance. If our parent's would have had sex 10 minutes sooner or 10 minutes later on the day/night we were conceived, it's likely that another little sperm would have fertilized the egg and someone else would have been conceived instead of us. That's why its so hard for me to believe that just because we happened to come into existence via this random occurrence, that we were intended to live on and on for all eternity.

Probably just a rumor but I heard that women in India who become Witnesses, in order to cut their former religious ties, are required to put the letters JW and Org on either side of the red Dot they often have tattooed on their forehead.

What is a generation? Matthew 1:17 is pretty clear to me
by pleaseresearch inso we have this ridiculous teaching of an overlapping generation, something the bible clearly does not teach.
if this has been mentioned before i apologize.
but it's interesting that at the start of matthew we go through the genealogy of jesus.

I'm someone who has faded for the past 10 years. No way can I get my head around this JW generation teaching.
You can make sense of just about anything if you're explanation is creative enough or your audience is gullible enough. It doesn't matter to these folks whether or not what they are taught makes sense. They want to be told what to think and do by someone in authority so that they are not responsible for the outcome in the big picture.

Out on Facebook
by disillusioned 2 ini am just venting because my sister has put on facebook that i am no longer "in the truth"!
i have kept a very low profile for years and have silently faded.
many witnesses i have bumped into are very friendly towards me, some from other congregations may not even be aware that i dont go anymore.

You could make a comment on her post that would make her look like the traitor she is, in the eyes of her facebook friends and would leave your JW status sort of ambiguous, such as:
Mary....you're my sister, I can't imagine what possessed you to make a post like this or what good you were hoping to accomplish in doing so. Please call me.

Kingdom Hall Built on Site of Former Slave Market
by Wild_Thing inin mississippi, there is a historical site called forks of the road.
before the civil war, it was one of the most active slave trading markets in the south.
it was a triangular piece of land formed by ... you guessed it ... a fork in the road.

What about this site? Don't you see the irony that you guys get together to attack JW's on a site that promotes mail order brides?Who's attacking anyone? JW's harshly criticize the world around them while taking full advantage of it but if anyone says anything that isn't an absolute gushing compliment about them, they think they're being attacked.
Unlike JW's, this site isn't claiming to be the only true religion, isn't claiming to be directed by God and isn't condemning the rest of the world to death because they aren't members or supporters.
Besides that, I believe the ads one sees on this site are usually geared toward whatever they've been looking at while on the internet. Are you on the hunt for a mail order bride these days? If so, unlike the slaves of old, at least mail order brides have some say in the matter and are seeking a better life elsewhere rather than being shackled and dragged off against their will.
So to answer your question, No I don't see any irony here. The only irony I see is that you are a member of a so called Apostate website.

Is there a chance that any of these slaves were "faithful and discreet"? -

Who can come up with the punch line why JW's are not delusional.
by James Mixon injw seek treatment for mental breakdown.. he tells the physician, my non-jw family tell me i'm nuts because i preach we are the only true religion (jws).. the doctor said that is strange because i have two patients that checked in yesterday and they .
each said they belong to the only true religions.
one is a mormon and the other a muslim.. so the doctor thought i will lock all three up in the same room for the night and see what.

If death is a natural occurrence in the human species, why are we born with the innate feeling to continue living indefinitely?
by Tenacious inthere are some people that do in fact want to die.
these people include the mentally unstable, emotionally imbalanced, and those suffering from ailments or diseases, just to name a few.. i've never met however, anyone, or heard of anyone, who is of sound mind, who just awoke one day and thought it would be an excellent day to die......naturally.. your thoughts?.

There's a difference between not wanting to die (esp.violently) and having a desire to live forever and ever. I think we confuse our natural inclination to preserve our own life, with wanting to actually live eternally. Just because we are wired to stay keep ourselves alive doesn't mean we were meant to live forever. Wanting to live forever may just be human greed....more is better.
Animals strive to preserve their own lives even though they have no plans or hopes for the future and supposedly weren't meant to live forever . The difference between them and us in this regard is our level of consciousness. Even small children have no concept of future and past and they have no plans or hopes. It's only later, unlike animals, that their level of consciousness develops to that point.
JW's planted the idea in my mind that eternal life is possible and I should WANT it. Looking back, what I wanted most was NOT to be DESTROYED by God.
They said that it doesn't make sense that God would create humans just to have them grow old and die. Why does it make sense that God would create these intricately designed animals only to have them die of natural causes or be devoured by a predator? What would be the purpose in the new system to have animals cycling through all the time while the humans stayed forever? Wouldn't that cause us sadness to see animals we've grown attached to, die. Imagine having an elephant for 80 years and then having it get old and die.
If anyone lived beyond 100 years even in reasonable health, they might not think living forever was such a great thing. They might just think "enough already". It seems to me that in order for us to be happy living forever, we'd have to be in a more childlike state mentally. Perhaps that state of innocence that would enable us to tolerate living forever, is what Adam and Eve lost for us by eating the forbidden fruit ( if that tale is true).
All I know is so far everyone who has lived so far, has died. That's the way it is. No amount of wishful thinking or study of primitive writings is going to change that. It is what it is.....get used to it. It's quite freeing once you do.
To me it's like the flowers in spring. If they bloomed all year long, they wouldn't be that special. It's because they are here for a short time, that we value them. Having a limit to our lives might make it more precious to us. -

Some thoughts on guilt.
by New day inhad an interesting conversation with my wife recently.
she struggles with physical, emotional and psychological problems which have often caused her to miss meetings.
she mentioned how she is equally tortured by guilt if she misses meetings and ministry, and severe stress if she does them.
-
Pete Zahut
It seems to me a lot of JW's suffer from guilt but they are misinterpreting the guilt they feel. They often think their guilt is from not doing enough or doing the things they are supposed to do. The fact is they often don't really want to go in service or to all those meetings but feel like they SHOULD WANT to do those things and they feel guilty for NOT REALLY WANTING to do any of it.
- The whole religion operates on the F.O.G. principle. Fear, Obligation, Guilt.
- People are afraid of dying or being destroyed,
- They are made to feel obligated to promote the Societies interests claiming their motivation is love for their fellow man but the main motivation is to save their own skins and they are ashamed of this.
- They feel guilty for not doing what they're told to do and guilty for not wanting to do what they are told to do.
Maybe you could ask your wife to show you from the Bible how many meetings per week the early Christians attended. How long were these meetings? Were they held at night making it difficult for children and working people? Ask her what literature they used to spread the word and ask her to show you an example in the Bible where ordinary congregation members (including children) engaged in door to door activity using printed literature, collected money for it and were required to report the time they spent and their placements. Where in the Bible was a quota of hours spent per month, given? Maybe if she could see that this guilt is man induced rather than coming from something specific and clearly pointed out in the Bible, she'd feel better.
